DISCOUNTS FOR TRAVELLERS BY BUS

In accordance with the Law on Transport Concessions of the Republic of Lithuania

(Žin. 2000, Nr. 32-890, i. k. 1001010ISTAIII-1605 as amended)

 

 

RIGHT TO TRAVEL FOR FREE

4.1 Every passenger shall have the right to travel free of charge on local (urban and suburban) regular buses and trolleybuses, regular coaches, passenger trains, regular boats and ferries for two children under the age of 7 years, without occupying a separate seating or sleeping place.

4.2 The right to travel free of charge on passenger transport shall be granted to officials controlling passenger transport in accordance with the procedure laid down by the Government or the authority authorised by it.

 

RIGHT TO A DISCOUNTED TICKET

5.1 The following persons shall be entitled to purchase a single-use or time-limited nominal ticket with an 80 percent discount for long-distance, local (urban and suburban) regular buses and trolleybuses, passenger trains, regular boats and ferries:

5.1.1. persons who have been diagnosed with a disability, or persons who were recognised as disabled children before 1 July 2005, and persons accompanying them (one accompanying person per person);

5.1.2. persons with a level of incapacity for work of between 0 and 25 per cent, persons with a level of severe special needs, persons recognised as disabled persons of Group I before 30 June 2005, and their accompanying persons (one accompanying person per person);

5.1.3. persons requiring haemodialysis on a permanent basis and their accompanying persons (one accompanying person per person), as well as persons suffering from oncological diseases;

5.1.4 persons aged 80 years and over;

5.1.5. defenders of the independence of the Republic of Lithuania, who have been diagnosed with a level of 30-55 per cent of incapacity for work or who have been diagnosed with a level of moderate special needs (recognised as disabled of Group II or Group III until 30 June 2005) as a result of the aggression of the USSR on 11-13 January 1991 and after that;

5.1.6 Family members of the fallen defenders of the independence of the Republic of Lithuania who suffered from the aggression of the USSR on 11-13 January 1991 and afterwards;

5.1.7. Participants of the Resistance to the occupation of the Republic of Lithuania in 1940-1990 – volunteer soldiers aged 70 and over;

5.1.8. victims of the occupations of 1939-1990 – political prisoners and exiles, former inmates of ghettos, concentration or other types of forced labour camps, aged 70 years and older.

5.2 The following persons shall be entitled to purchase a single-use or fixed-term nominal ticket with a 50 percent discount for long-distance, local (city and suburban) regular buses and trolleybuses, passenger trains, regular boats and ferries:

5.2.1. persons with a level of incapacity for work of 30-55 percent, or persons with a level of moderate special needs (recognised as disabled of Group II before 30 June 2005);

5.2.2. Participants in the Resistance to the Occupation of 1940-1990 – volunteer soldiers under 70 years of age and participants in the freedom struggle;

Victims of the occupations of 1939-1990 – political prisoners and exiles, former prisoners of ghettos, concentration camps or other types of forced labour camps under the age of 70;

5.2.4 Defenders of the independence of the Republic of Lithuania, victims of the aggression of the USSR on 11-13 January 1991 and afterwards;

5.2.5. Persons aged between 70 and 80 years.

5.3. The right to purchase a single-use or fixed-term nominal ticket for long-distance or local (suburban) regular buses, passenger trains with a 50% discount is granted to students of higher education institutions studying on a full-time basis, citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, citizens of other Member States of the European Union and countries of the European Economic Area, and members of their families, studying in higher education institutions of the Member States of the European Union or of the European Economic Area in the full-time or full-time form of study, as well as students studying under formal vocational training programmes in the form of group learning in the daily organisation of the learning process, and in the form of single learning in the independent organisation of the learning process.

IMPORTANT! If you purchase a ticket with a student discount, you must carry and provide your original LSP and/or ISIC (ISIC is also valid via the official app). If you purchase a discounted ticket without being able to show the original card, the ticket is invalid.

Photographs of cards are not valid.

5.4. The right to purchase a single-use or a fixed-term nominal ticket for long-distance and local (suburban) regular buses, passenger trains, regular boats and ferries with a 50 percent discount shall be granted to children aged between 7 and 10.

5.5. A passenger carrying a child/children up to the age of 7 years on long-distance regular buses, local (urban and suburban) regular buses and trolleybuses, passenger trains, regular boats and ferries shall be entitled to a single or a fixed-term nominal ticket with a 50 % discount for a child/children up to the age of 7.

5.6. Students of higher education institutions studying on a full-time or full-time basis, citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, citizens of other Member States of the European Union and countries of the European Economic Area and their family members studying in higher education institutions of the Member States of the European Union or countries of the European Economic Area on a full-time or full-time basis, children aged between 7 and 8 years old, pupils studying in schools under general education programmes (except for persons of full age who are enrolled in the adult primary, primary, secondary education programmes) in the form of group learning in the form of day-to-day organisation of the learning process and in the form of individual learning in the form of independent organisation of the learning process, pupils of formal vocational education programmes in the form of group learning in the form of day-to-day organisation of the learning process and in the form of individual learning in the form of independent organisation of the learning process, and pupils of schools carrying out programmes of specialised education shall be entitled to purchase a ticket for travelling by local (urban) regular bus and trolleybus with the following discounts:

5.6.1. A fixed-term nominal ticket – with an 80 percent discount;

5.6.2. A single-use ticket with a 50 percent discount.

5.6.3. Pupils of schools carrying out specialised education programmes shall be entitled to purchase a single-use or a time-limited nominal ticket for long-distance or local (suburban) regular buses, passenger trains, regular boats, and ferries at a 50 percent discount.

5.6.4. Municipalities may, in accordance with the procedure established by the municipality, additionally grant a discounted ticket for the use of local (urban and suburban) regular buses and trolleybuses to persons of other categories, as well as a discounted ticket for certain days of the week or times of the day. Municipalities reimburse the costs of these concessions from their own budget.
